Girl With a Pearl Earrings
This Novel is about sixteen-year-old Griet living as a maid in the 1600s. Griet is telling the story in her eyes as she lives day to day in a house with a painter. The grade I would give this book is a B. The reason the book got a B is because it tells a great story that many people in the 1600s could of related to if they read the novel. The novel also has a lot of drama in it making the reader want to read more and have them wondering what is going to happen between any two characters for example Griet and Catharina. In one scene in the story Cornelia one of the children who was sneaky and didn't like Griet switched Griet's comb with Catharina's. Griet told on Cornelia and said she switched the combs but Catharina didn't like Griet so as a reader it makes you think would she believe Griet over her own daughter, and would she let Griet stay or kick her out the house. There were many times in the novel it had you question something and want to read more. Another reason the book was rated a B instead of a A is because it did have a few boring moments here and there for example when Griet would go home on Sunday and explain to her father about the painting her master was painting. Her father became blind after a accident happened and since Griet was working for a painter he wanted to know everything he could about the paintings. This story only had a couple boring moments but overall this was a good book that should be recommended to many people.
